#MCM - Tuface Idibia





Hi! Its Monday again and we have yet another opportunity to crush on someone. In today’s edition of #MCM, We will be crushing on the Nigerian Music Legend Tuface Idibia



Innocent Idibia popularly and famously known as TuFace or TuBaba was born in Jos, he attended Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue State. He enrolled at Institute of Management & Technology, Enugu (IMT), where he started his music career. There, he would pergform at shows and parties organized within the school. With time, he also progressed to performing at other schools such as, The University of Nigeria and Enugu State University of Science and Technology and also for the GB Fan Club at Enugu State Broadcasting Services (ESBS).



He eventually dropped out to pursue his career in music. He later moved to Lagos and formed Plantashun Boyz with black face and Faze, and they became a group to expect much from. The Band released two highly successful albums under Dove Records owned by Nelson Brown; ‘Body and Soul’ (2000) and ‘Sold Out’ (2003). By 2004, the band broke up and each of the artists focused on a solo career.












However, in 2007 they came together and released an album titled ‘Plan B’ By 2004, Tuface Idibia was signed under Kennis Music; there he released his first solo album ‘Face 2 Face’ which catapulted him into limelight as it had hit tracks like African Queen which was even used in the soundtrack for Hollywood movie “Phat Girlz’ in 2006.



His second album ‘Grass 2 Grace’ was an equal success which had the hit songs ‘One Love’, ‘True Love’, ‘4 Instance’. In 2008, he left Kennis Music to start his own record label called Hypertek Entertainment and released ‘The Unstoppable’. By 2010, he released ‘The Unstoppable International Edition, making him the first Nigerian Artist to have a well-priced international album. In 2012 and 2014, he released two more albums respectively ‘Away and Beyond’ and ‘The Ascension’.




His musical career is one filled with successes as he has won numerous awards and accolades such as MTV Europe Music Award, Headies Awards, MTV Africa Music Awards, World Music Award, Channel O Music Video Awards among many others.

In 2012, he married his long time love Annie Macaulay in a private ceremony in Lagos. They had their traditional marriage rites in 2013 at Eket, Akwa Ibom, and the white wedding at Dubai.
